Sarah has been in the business insurance industry since 2009, having worked with small business, commercial and corporate files across several industries.
Prior to her role as managing director at Smith & Lane, she held a senior executive role within a suburban broking firm, while simultaneously managing a portfolio of corporate clients, and managed two insurance broking teams.
Sarah’s exposure to different products and industries is vast. She has particular expertise in the construction and high risk liability sector and is well known for her ability to make organising new insurance easy, whether by a quick phone call, helping complete paperwork, or providing you with specialist advice.
Further to her background in broking, Sarah’s on the ground experience includes roles heavily involved in staff management, sales, strategic business planning and negotiating. She also has a strong history in implementing schemes and binders and managing external stakeholder relationships.
Peter has been in the business insurance industry since 2011 and holds a Bachelor of Business. He has negotiated on behalf of a wide range of businesses in the construction, manufacturing and corporate sectors.
He gained his strong industry experience as an underwriter for a well-known large multinational insurance organisation - assessing large, complex credit risks amongst other challenges.
With a past role as a senior builder’s warranty underwriter, and running his own exclusive, successful underwriting scheme, he is regarded highly for his ability to sort out Builder’s Warranty insurance issues and make the process of gaining, renewing or extending limits easy.
In addition to his builders warranty experience, he has also managed a diverse portfolio, spanning from SME to corporate clients across multiple sectors. Peter has a unique ability to offer frank advice and to explain insurance in clear and direct terms
Mahima has been in the insurance broking industry since 2013, working across a range of portfolios including clients in the leisure, transport, construction, and high-risk liability sectors.
Mahima’s extensive experience encompasses effective risk assessment, tailored coverage solutions, and seamless claims management. She demonstrates expertise in addressing clients' distinct needs while ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
She values mentoring her peers and works towards process improvement to create a more seamless experience for her clients. Mahima brings her immense understanding of occupation risks and products, as well as her familiarity with systems and processes to the Smith & Lane team.
She aims to expand her knowledge in insurance and continue to provide a customer-centric approach to excel in providing advice to her clients.
Darcee is an experienced insurance broker with commencing her career in the industry in 2010. She started at the front desk and worked her way up to supporting senior staff and directors handling corporate accounts.
She is known for being hardworking and getting things done efficiently. She has worked across various sectors like transport, construction, and manufacturing, dealing with challenging property placements.
Darcee’s clients appreciate her tailored approach to insurance and her ability to manage risks effectively. She is respected by both clients and colleagues for her dedication and expertise and stands out for her commitment to providing excellent service and personalised solutions.
She is a hands-on mum to two active boys! Darcee is focused on her family and is always managing their busy after-school schedule while trying to fit some time in for herself.
Dale brings a diverse professional background to Smith and Lane, with experience spanning financial services, education, and customer relations. He began his career in education after completing a Master of Teaching, working with primary school students in both classroom and physical education settings.
Looking for a new challenge, Dale transitioned into the finance industry, where he joined Computershare. There, he quickly progressed from investor services into a leadership role within the Quality and Support team, and later moved into Corporate Actions, working closely with a broad range of clients.
After engaging conversations with directors Sarah and Peter sparked an interest in the insurance industry, Dale saw a great opportunity to combine his strong customer service skills with his financial background. He was excited to join the Smith & Lane team and contribute to the firm’s continued growth.
